Flyfishing for pike

SHREELANE LAKE, SKIBBEREEN, WEST CORK.

WHERE PIKE AND FLY MEET.

This sheltered and picturesque lake is a summer rainbow trout fishery known locally as “Sheperton lake”. Large and numerous well fed Pike also inhabit these waters and some fine fish have been caught on fly already such as Tim Rule's (U.K.) fine 23lbs Pike in April 2007.

Pike on the fly
Tim Rule caguht this 23lb pike on the fly at Shreelane Lake. It was returned unharmed after this photograph.

We are putting on some good Lake boats for the winter and invite anybody interested to try this special experience. Numbers will be limited for comfort and mainly confined to weekends except by arrangement. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome from you as we are developing this fishery for your enjoyment. To kick start the only fees will be covering the boat hire costs and the waters our gift to you.

Groups, corporate days or enthusiasts of any shade are welcome to book the waters exclusively for their enjoyment.

Shreelane Lake is near to Skibbereen with its bars and restaurants and is a most welcoming place to visit. The gulf stream effect gives this corner of West Cork its mild winters and combined with its sheltered disposition is the perfect winter fishery.

The fishery will be open from October to end of March yearly and if you have never fought a big Pike on the fly then its time you did just that. Assistance and advice available by arrangement,

Shreelane Lake
Already pike to 23lbs have been caught. This may well become Ireland’s best wild Pike fly fishery.
