FOR WEEKENDING SUNDAY THE 10 June 2007
No catches to report.
No catches to report due to low water levels.
17 fish reported caught mainly at the weir all on shrimp.
1 fish caught on Saturday weighing 7 lbs. on the spinner.
5 fish caught on the river with the biggest fish weighing in at 11 ½ lbs. all caught on shrimp.
Angling effort up considerably because of improved water conditions. There were two fish reported for the week one on Wednesday and one on Friday both fish were caught on Laune Anglers' Waters.
Water has remained well up all the week but taking the good water and notwithstanding the very fine weather more fish should have been encountered.
Most people had given up by Saturday and angling effort was reduced.
I have now fished the Laune 15 times from the start of the season and I have not had a pull yet.
My first cousin visiting from Boston was fishing for the week and he failed to meet a fish.
Item of interest: I saw a dead Lamprey Eel on the bank of the river which had been partially eaten by an otter presumably, this is the first time I have seen one of these in years. (Report from Billy Downs, Hon. Secretary of the Laune anglers).
