FOR WEEKENDING SUNDAY 24 June 2007
There was a lovely flood on the 19th so good water prevailed for Salmon anglers. The first salmon of the season caught by a local angler weighing 6 ½ lbs with 2 more fish on the same day. Fish are starting to arrive in numbers.
2 fish landed for the week, one by Kieran Condon weighing 3 ¼ lbs. and the other by Richard Barry of Cork weighing 5 ½ lbs.
6 Fish caught on Beat 1 with 3 landed on the fly ranging from 5 lbs. to 7 lbs. in weight.
10 salmon caught by local and visiting anglers weighing from 3 lbs. to 6 lbs.
11 fish reported caught on the Bandon river averaging 7 lbs. to 7 ½ lbs. in weight
6 Salmon reported caught at the weir.
Water level again, like you would write away for, about 2 feet on the gauge at Johnston's. This is perfect fly fishing water. There should be lots of salmon and lots of grilse in the system.
Because of the good water there is a considerable effort but I know of no fish being reported from our waters. I fished the Laune three times during the last week and did not even see a fish.
