Shore Rigs
Long Range Wishbone Rig
This is a useful rig when fishing at distance from the shore. This rig allows the angler to fish two baits in the fishing zone and also two varities of bat which can be helpful when targeting multiple species. It can be particularly deadly when fishing for flatfish such as plaice, dabs and flounder from beaches.
The Pulley Rig
This is an excellent rig when targetting fish living in rough kelp ridden grounds.
The rig is designed to lift the lead free of snags when hooked into a fish. This would be used frequently when targeting wrasse, bullhuss and rays.
The Bomber Rig
This is an excellent rig when targeting fish at distance and also in a strong run of tide. It is not suitable for fishing in the surf as it tends to tangle as a result of the wave action.
Two Hook Clipped Rig
This is an excellent all round rig and can be combined with a leger rig to give the angler a two up one down rig which is an excellent scratching rig for any occasion. This rig enables the angler to fish at distance while still protecting the bait from flying off the hook during powerful casts by keeping it attacted to the rig body. Upon entering the water the bait snoods unclip and fish freely. A variation of this rig can have three hooks
